Anticipatory guidance7/1/2023 ![]() Conclusion: Parent's knowledge and awareness of oral health among Kannur district parents were relatively good. 51% were changing their children's toothbrush every 3 months. 58% of children were brushing their teeth twice daily and 54% have spent 1-3 minutes for brushing their teeth. Around 56% were choosing the toothpaste based on brand. 72.5% were using adult toothpaste and only 24.5% were using children's toothpaste. Results: 98% of the children were using toothbrush and paste to clean their teeth. The questionnaire consists of 12 questions concerning parents awareness and practice of oral health maintenance in children. Materials and method: A Study was conducted in 800 parents of children who were between the ages of 0-9 years of which 760 completed questionnaires were included in the study. ![]() Therefore a study was conducted to have a better understanding of the parent's knowledge regarding oral hygiene maintenance in children and to educate them on proper brushing habits. More than the child, it is the influence of the parents that will determine the future of their children's oral health. This article reviews the caries management strategies in prevention and treatment. Best practices dictate that once the clinician has identified the patient’s caries risk, therapeutic and preventive plan should be implemented to prevent the pathological challenge posed by the caries risk factors. Such management requires skill and are time consuming. The treatment goals in caries management should be to prevent new lesions from forming and to detect lesions sufficiently early in the process so that they can be treated and arrested by non-operative means. ![]() Caries risk should be determined before treatment is considered. Based on a proper diagnosis of caries taken into an account, thedynamics and the activity of the caries should be determined. So a different management strategy is recommended. On the contrary, it will be the start of the restoration cycle in which the restorationwill be replaced several times. Placing a restoration doesn’t guarantee a sound future for the tooth. Conclusion: The present study reflects a mothers' need regular dental program, by pediatrician to teach and educatehow to apply their knowledge to develop positive practices among their children toward oral health care.Ībstract:Traditional caries management consisted of the detection of carious lesions followed by immediate restoration. The results: We found that the mothers having a good knowledge about their children oral health, but most of mothers do not care to use it for their children. Study data were analyzed using Excel program Version 2010. The answers of mothers were collected, the percentage of mothers' responses to questions were calculated. A mothers were asked to fill a questionnaire which consisted of four sections, dental awareness of mothers, oral hygiene practices, diet and feeding practices and the importance of deciduous teeth The oral examination was done in the schools by dentists. The study sample included 134 mothers along with their children (4-9) years old. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional, questionnaire study was conducted from three schools in Jeddah city. Objectives: the aim of this study was to examine the influence of mothers knowledge about the effects of oral hygiene, dietary and feeding practices and the importance of deciduous dentition on oral health status in early childhood. ![]() In addition to mothers, schools and friends can affect the habits and behaviors of their children by process of secondary socialization. Background: Parents especially, mothers have a highest authority and an important role in establishment of oral health behavior, developing attitudes and habits to their children because they are the main caregiver of oral health during the first years of their life, even in preschool.
